Fahim’s Unhealthy Obsession

But it’s only unhealthy for me, of course. He wouldn’t have any obsession that was unhealthy for him. Would he?

Silly question.

When Fahim and I were at Majestic City, the shopping mall, on Saturday, we went to a few DVD stores. In the process, we picked up 24, Season Two. 24, if you don’t know, stars Kiefer Sutherland, and it’s non-stop action from beginning to end. It’s also an exercise in math to count the dead bodies from one episode to the next.

24, Season Two, is showing on television here right now, but it’s on from 9:30 to 10:30 Thursday nights. Fahim is in the middle of Ramadan, and even with him going to bed at 9pm on most nights, staying up late for Dark Angel on Tuesdays, Relic Hunter on Monday and Wednesdays (they show one half of the show on Monday, the next half on Wednesday.), when we throw 24 into the mix, well, Fahim just isn’t getting enough sleep. Heck, I’m not either, and I sleep in until a very late in the day 6 or 6:30. Egads. How dare I sleep so long?

Last Thursday, Fahim decided that he couldn’t afford to stay up anymore, so he went to bed and I stayed up and watched it.

Then Saturday, while we were out shopping, he decided to pick up the entire series on DVD. Okay, fine with me. I’m also addicted. We also picked up a few other DVDs as well, including Planet of the Apes television series from, what, the 50s or 60s. My pick. I’d never seen it that I could remember and I’d like to. But I’d also like to eventually get all the Planet of the Apes movies from back then, too. I have the recent version with Mark Wahlberg, I think his name is, if I remember correctly, but I want the old ones, too.

I digress, as usual.

Fahim and I started watching the DVDs on Saturday – why not? And we watched more on Sunday, both before and after church. Of course.

So what does Fahim do this morning?

Take a guess. Take a wild guess.

You got it. He woke me up at 5:45am so we’d have time to watch two episodes before he went to work.

Seriously. I wish I were kidding.

I’m fast asleep. In bed. I feel something tapping me. I wake up. It’s Fahim. And that’s exactly what he says. Get up so we can watch 24 before work. What the . . .????

Cruel cruel man.

And we watched two more episodes tonight, so there are now only what, four left.
