We went out briefly today and these are a couple of pictures I managed to get.
Garbage pickup in Sri Lanka. We don’t have garbage trucks like y’all from the US and Canada are used to. No, sirree, Bob! Nope. We have open trucks that are manned by 3 or 4 men, one to drive, the others to take care of the garbage.
In this photo, one man stands in the back of the truck on the garbage and the other two men (not seen in this picture) hand the garbage up to him.
Here we have a couple of policemen talking to men at the side of the road.
Policemen as well as armed forces people with guns are still readily seen all over the place. Security checkpoints are still in force, although not to the extent it was before the war ended.

Um, yeah, sorry about that – fixed now. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
How long ago were those trucks you had in Philadelphia?
I’m not seeing the policemen, just 2 birds. But that garbage truck is very much like the trucks we had in Philadelphia some years ago. 🙂
