Project #365 Day 177 – Crotons Against A Blue Sky
We have a few different types of crotons in our garden, but this one is my favourite. … What do you think of the photo(s)? Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
Howdy! I'm a beginner artist, hobbyist photographer, kitchen witch, wanderer by nature, and hermit introvert. This is my blog feed. You can find my fediverse posts at https://a.farook.org/Laurie.

A month and a half back, Fahim and I were returning home when we saw this truck. … Cuz I really don’t think we’re in an alternate universe right now, you know? As it turns out, we got our answer when the car we were in passed the truck.
While the neighborhood chameleons don’t visit every day, or even every week, they visit often enough that, despite how shy they are about being seen by me, I occasionally manage to photograph them. What do you think of the photo? Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?

These pictures are of red vented bulbuls, a local bird that seems to love our neighborhood. They’re particularly identifiable due to their red underpants. 🙂 They’re on our neighbor’s roof, hanging out. You know how it is. 🙂 There’ve been dozens out there having a regular ol’ party, and coming and going quick as can be.
For a while there, my mother in law wondered if we had rats rooting around in the garden digging holes up against the house. … Finally, I clued in one day when, for the like fifth day in a row I caught the lizard digging around in the garden where the holes at the side of the house are. … And, unfortunately, he runs the second he hears me, which means I’m really good at getting photos of him from behind, but not so good at getting photos from the front.

I know, I know, I’m obsessed with birds. … Can’t help it, yanno? 😀 What do you think of the photo? Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
Mosquitoes bite me – and they bite me by the dozens to hundreds while everyone else around me is left completely alone – and the white part swells up to between a half inch to an inch in diameter with the red bit sometimes 4-6 inches in diameter. … Well, you get the idea. 🙂 I don’t know for a fact that I’m allergic to bees and wasps and other of the more, ah, dangerous insects, but given my allergic reactions in general and with insects, it’s a pretty safe bet that getting stung by them probably wouldn’t be a good idea, you know what I mean? 🙂 So why, oh why, do I do some of the things I do? I was outside and saw a bunch of flying insects swarming in the area around our no-longer-in-use Dialog satellite dish, so naturally, I had to take a step closer to find out what was going on.
I’ve taken photos of this insect before as it’s a frequent enough visitor in these parts, but this is the best one I’ve taken. I have no idea what it’s called. … Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
Stand out on the balcony in the morning for five minutes, and I’ll see at least four or five different types of birds that I can recognize and identify. Then there are all the other birds hanging out, flying around, chirping or otherwise singing their noises, but out of sight, and, well, I really have no idea how many there are, but it’s a LOT. These shots are just a few examples of what I see from my balcony on a typical morning.
These two doves – at least, I think it’s these two doves – have been hanging around our neighborhood a lot lately. I have to admit wondering if it’s mating season for them, but I’m too lazy to look it up just at the mo’. 🙂 Anyway, here they are, playing around. … Not just on the power line, but at the junction thingie on the pole where all the wires connect up and stuff.
I played with the tint until I got it firmly into the browns. Okay, so this would be considered less a photograph and more photographic art or something, I imagine. I’m okay with that. 🙂 What do you think of the photo?
Since we don’t have seasons as in winter, summer, spring and fall, but rather we have monsoon/not monsoon seasons, we tend to have leaves turning brown and drying out throughout the year. This is from one of our decorative palms in our front yard. … Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
Two and a half weeks ago, I tweeted about our bathroom door not opening. At all. Happily, no one was…
Fahim took me out for lunch at the Thambapani restaurant in Colombo. We’d eaten there before when I’d done a restaurant review for Travel Sri Lanka. … Nevertheless, I took this picture of a water fountain while we waited 20 minutes for anyone, anyone at all, to take our order.
I finally, finally, finally managed to take a decent photo of one of the yellow butterflies that frequently dances around the neighborhood. There are dozens, and when they dance, sometimes solo, sometimes a duo, they look so graceful, like beautiful ballerinas dancing in the air. … Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
But mostly play. 🙂 I set myself on the dining room table with a foil-covered cake tray for the base and a lamp I use for sewing on the left. … You know, with a kid’s bubble thingie that we keep for the nieces and nephews to play with. 😀 Hey, I love blowing bubbles anyway, so for me, this was just an excuse… I have a few other things I want to do with blowing bubbles, but that’ll be another day…
Two palm leaves, intersecting lines. What do you think? Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
This is one of the flowers that I very seldom see. They’re small enough that, without a macro lens, this is about as close as I can get to them. … Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
Another picture of mimosa flowers. What do you think? Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
This is a sunrise photo I’ve taken with the sun still hidden behind the neighbor’s trees. What do you think? Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
A few days ago , I mentioned a decorative palm we have in our front yard that has seeds that go from brownish yellow to yellow to orange to a deep red. These aren’t those seeds, although these are located in the same seed pod thingie that bursts open. I don’t actually know what these are called, but I find them interesting.
This is the flower for one of the potted plants we have outside. And I really really really wish I knew my flowers and what they were called. … Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?
