Telling lies for fun and profit

14 April 2005

And that’s pretty much the job of any good writer.
Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of work on plot and character development, and it’s been hard work, mostly because I’m learning the process. Once I know the process better, it’ll be much faster and much easier. But for now . . .
So here [...]

Blitz Drafting

13 April 2005

I type at about 80 wpm, so I should, theoretically, be able to type about 4800 words per hour, or about 19 pages. In reality, that has never happened. I’m happy when I hit my personal high of about 12 to 14 pages per hour. That only happens, though when I’m blitzing and I know [...]

The Internet…

9 April 2005

The internet connection has been so sporadic since, what, Wednesday?
Short version of the story – an undersea cable is out. No idea why.
Good stuff: it appears to finally be fixed. Only four days of no internet. Or, rather, broken sporadic internet.
[...]

Another day another . . . what?

8 April 2005

No idea.
I’ve been working on snowflaking the latest novel, and I get stuck. I get headachy and cotton headed and generally just feel kinda miserable about the whole process. It annoys me because, well, it’s supposed to be fun and interesting. So why do I get so cotton-headed about it?
It just seems so silly. And [...]

How does ones internet “run out”?

7 April 2005

If, like me, you live in Sri Lanka, it could be caused by a ship dropping anchor on the undersea telephone cable that connects the country to Singapore, thereby severing it. That happened a few months ago, and the Internet ran out for over a week.
Or the cable could be experiencing problems between China and, [...]

I Sometimes Wonder. . .

5 April 2005

I’m trying to write today. Before I write, though, I need to finish snowflaking. Children of the Dome. I’ve changed my mind so many times about what it’s about. Basic premise? Characters? Who’s going to do what? Are they going to escape the mall? How? Who’s helping them and why?
[...]
