I generally make it a rule to stay as far away from biting insects as I can. I tend to be allergic to most of them. Yeah, not good, right? So why, then, did I voluntarily take a picture of this bug? Which, by the way, happens to be a wasp?
Could it be because it doesn’t look like any wasps I’ve seen before? Or, perhaps more accurately, like any wasps I’d recognize?
Yep, that would be it.
This start-of-a-wasp’s-nest was being constructed on our balcony. Fahim very kindly (to me, not to the wasp) destroyed it for me.
