Mohamed being the guy who started the whole Muslim religion.
I say this to Fahim, to confirm that I know, sort of, what I’m talking about, and he says, well, yeah, sort of. But that’s like saying Jesus is the guy who started the whole Christianity thing.
Exactly.
At least we’re on the same page. 🙂
Fahim didn’t do anything to celebrate it, so I ask why not, and the only response I get is that it’s not that kind of holiday. Then what kind of a holiday is it? It isn’t, he says. Huh?
I don’t get it. I seriously don’t get it.
But that’s okay.
Because this is a mercantile holiday, and it’s a Sunday, it means that everything tomorrow will be closed.
Tuesday is Vesak Poya day – the big poya day of the year, and Wednesday is the day following Vesak Poya day, so also a holiday, so nothing will be open until Thursday, and even at that, not much will be open. Most people are taking the whole week off.
And yes, the day following Vesak Poya day is officially called The Day Following Vesak Poya Day on the calendars. Not the least bit original, but it gets the job done.
Anyway, taking a whole week off seems to be a fairly common theme here. Have two days or more holidays in a row, take off the entire week.
Fahim had to go grocery shopping to make sure we had enough to last until the end of the week. Good boy, Fahim.
