Project #365 Day 155 – A Butterfly in the Midst

butterfly on the mimosa plant, Sri Lanka

We have a few different types of butterflies in our neighborhood that frequently fly around, both as solo flyers and as a pair, chasing each other in what looks to my inexperienced eyes as a mating dance. The butterflies mostly look to be white, yellow, or black.

Imagine my surprise, then, when, after spotting a white butterfly flying all around my garden, and I finally – after months of trying – finally! manage to capture a decent photo, and, when I look at it later, it’s not solid white as it appears when in full motion, but actually a black and white patterned butterfly with orange accents?

What do you think? Do you like it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it? What works for you? What doesn’t? 🙂

  1. Really great photo!

It’s interesting, about the butterfly, and it changing from appearing white to being black, white and yellow –

It is a stunning photo overall. you captured the butterfly GREAT and I love it with the flowers/almost hidden.

  2. Oh no! I didn’t explain that well at all! No, there are three types of butterflies in the neighborhood. This is the one that appears to be white when it’s moving fast. The others are, as far as I can tell, solid yellow and solid black, but haven’t managed to photograph them yet.

Thank you for the compliment. 🙂
