And then I find out that Sri Lanka will be holding provincial elections this year, as well. Oh really?
My next question becomes – what will happen in the north and the east? That is, the area with most of the Tamils, and home of the Tamil Tigers?
Um, I thought they wanted power and control in their own provinces. Doesn’t provincial elections, providing there are elections in every province in the country, mean that they have an opportunity to have power and control in their own provinces? Doesn’t this solve that part of the issue? Okay, so they might not get elected, but they’ll have the opportunity at any rate.
And no, I haven’t asked Fahim about this yet, so no, I don’t know the answer yet, but I’m pretty sure nonetheless that it’ll be long, convoluted, and confusing.
