Are cows everywhere in Sri Lanka?

cows at the side of a road in Sri LankaUm, yeah, pretty much. Not in Colombo itself so much, but where we are, in Nugegoda, which would be the North American equivalent of a suburb, yes. In villages and towns, even more so.

Here are two pictures from when Fahim and I went to the grocery store. I didn’t photograph all the cows we saw that day, only these two. In reality, in the five minute trishaw ride to the grocery store, we passed several dozen cows, and that didn’t include the 40 or 50 or more cows that were snacking on the remains of, well, stuff, at the dump across the road from Arpico, the department store where we usually go grocery shopping.

And am I the only one who wants to see a photo of the hordes of cows, birds, and other critters at the dump? Yes? πŸ˜‰
