Back pain.

28 January 2004

I saw the acupuncturist again this morning, and while I’m still stiff and the soft tissue is still inflamed, the back pain itself is gone, and so is most of the headache.  The headache was actually gone for several hours today, but the longer I stare at my computer screen, it [...]

Howdy

27 January 2004

I’m still alive, just been experiencing severe back pain for the last week and a half.  No writing done at all in that time.  But I saw an acupuncturist this morning, and the back pain is already noticeably receding, so I should be up for writing probably in the next couple [...]

On setting goals too high

20 January 2004

Someone on one of my writing lists said this:
"You should set your goal low, so you know that you’ll reach it.  That usually motivates people to beat their goal because it’s such a high when you’ve done better than expected.  And since it’s low, you won’t feel bad not reaching it because you will."
I disagree [...]

More on blitz drafting

19 January 2004

I was recently asked how I achieved some of my high page count days. More specifically, I was asked: Do I key?  You mean type it in, right?  Of course.  I haven’t bothered to train my speech recognition program yet – apparently, I sound drunk because it misunderstands almost everything, and [...]

Progress 19 Jan 2004

19 January 2004

Monday was a total flop – writing wise.  Things ended up happening that needed more immediate attention.  I wrote virtually nothing.  Tomorrow is likewise not going to be a great day for writing.  Drat!!!

On blitz drafting . . .

18 January 2004

My record so far is 62 in a 24 hour period.  That’s what I want to beat!!!
Okay, look, I’ve only reached that once, and before that, my record was 55 – but that happened only a month or so ago.  Before that?  I have no idea.  Possibly 25 or something along those lines.  It’s not [...]

“Wolfling” by Gordon R. Dickson

16 January 2004

First published 1968. 157 pages, which gives a publisher’s word count of 39,250 words.
Considering I read this just after "None But Man" and "Alien Way", it’s not surprising that I was a little bored in reading it.
Same general theme. Lone Man [...]

On Supportive Husbands . . .

16 January 2004

Fahim said that he knows I’ll be published because of course it will happen with my talent. He also says that of course I’ll be a famous well paid author someday – or rich famous author some day. It’s inevitable. And he says he’s looking forward to living off my earnings. [...]
