More on doctors in Sri Lanka

A lot of doctors here, from what I’ve heard via Fahim and others, won’t necessarily even tell you what your diagnosis is if they think it’ll impede treatment or cause misery.

Ie, if you have cancer. They’ll decide for themselves what your treatment will be with no consultation from the patient. You find out you have cancer when you show up for your treatment and find out it’s chemotherapy.

Yay.

If you don’t know what your diagnosis is, or what the treatment options are, how can a person decide for themselves what the best course of treatment is for them? Not everything is written in stone.
