The Twin

Science Fiction. Takes place in the same world as The Resistance and Soj Yar’s War, but many years later. In truth, I’ve got at least a dozen novel-length stories set in this world in various stages of plotting.
Several scenes written and the story vaguely plotted. Started writing this before The Resistance, but then realized that the other story had to come first, so shelved it in favour of The Resistance.

I was stunned as I looked at this replica of myself across the room.At first, I thought I was looking in a mirror, but slowly I realized I could not be.She was wearing different clothes than I. Besides, her mouth was moving where mine was not. She was not a mirror image, and yet she was. My twin sister lived after all. My mind began to clear as I focused on the words coming from my other, also confused, self.
"Where did you come from? I did not know the cloning process was so far advanced. I thought only Njammi DNA was used for cloning. Oh!" My twin gasped, as her eyebrows shot up and her mouth opened and paused.
"No," I said, "I was not cloned. I was birthed in the regular fashion, in my uncle’s house. I was told I had a sister, born at the same time as I, but she died after being taken to the birthing centre. It would appear to be a lie."
