BIW is over for this month

I’ve talked about BIW before. Writing challenge to write as many pages as you can in a week. It ends today at 8am. I don’t think I’ll win – there was one writer who was just smokin’, and she also had the biggest goal of 200 pages. That’s okay. Good for her, and it’s something for me to aim for next time, perhaps. I set my goal at writing 150 new pages and editing 50. I met it. Heck, I even beat it!

From 8 am last Monday to today 8 am – one full week – I wrote 150 new pages and edited 63. Yippee!!!!

I ended up starting to write two new stories, New United Earth and Children of the Dome. Two because, when I got stuck on NUE, I started in on Children of the Dome. It ended up working out rather well having both stories to work on. Added to that the fact that I also had Black Light to edit, and Placidia to both write and edit, and it kept me happily occupied.

I say that Placidia is open for both writing and editing – I say that because, even though the first draft is finished, after I checked things out, reread things, reorganized the plot and all sorts of other things, deleted some scenes that made no sense, I also ended up figuring out a whole bunch of other scenes that do belong in the story but I haven’t written yet. So I have all those scenes to add, too.

Having said that, I should also mention that it’s been so long since I’ve worked on Placidia that I don’t honestly remember how everything goes anymore.

And now that I think about it, I think that the next logical step would be to redo the synopsis. The existing one is so out of date that it’s completely unusable. But a current synopsis – now that would be useful.

Of course, it won’t happen today.

In a few minutes, I’m heading to Negombo to work on a computer up there for the missionary couple there.

Back to the novels.

I really do like having several things to work on at the same time. It’s easier on the writer’s block. Don’t know where to go in this story? No problem. Ignore it for a while and work on this one instead. It really did make that much of a difference. But the other thing is that I haven’t sufficiently plotted Children of the Dome and New United Earth. I mean, I sorta generally know where they’re going, but only generally. I open a scene to work on, and I don’t know what to throw in. That’s the stage I’m at right now – I need to plot. Organize my thoughts better. Have better direction to go in.

Oh heck, it’s back to that whole current synopsis issue. I don’t have a current synopsis for anything. That’s probably where I need to start next. Harumph!!!
