Yep, it’s true. I wondered if it were possible when we saw on the news that, while there are currently about 7,000 ADSL connections in Sri Lanka currently, SLT is planning on raising that number to 25,000 by the end of 2005. I think. Or in 2006? That actually sounds more likely. Which means, in reality, it might happen by 2009. :p Okay, that’s catty. Perhaps 2007.
Negombo and Kandy are supposed to have ADSL by the end of the year.
At any rate, this is good news for Sri Lanka.

I had no idea that India had a telephone company that was that large. Granted, they have a population of over a billion, but considering how many people in India don’t have telephones, I’m surprised.
I’m also surprised this is going forward given the whole undersea cable fiasco from last August. You know, when the Indian ship dropped anchor on the undersea communications cable, taking out our international telephone calls and internet service because India wanted Sri Lanka to connect for them – they want the revenue.
I guess it worked. *confused*
