Asimov had a range. Some stuff was tearful and some was funny. I'd rather aim for that I think. I like reading and writing funny stuff, but there's got to be a balance.

FreshHell, I haven't read Kurt Vonnegut. I suppose I should one of these days if only to give him a try and see what I think.

Razib, I only just started reading Isaac Asimov. Shocking, I know, that a major scifi fan like me wouldn't have previously read any Isaac Asimov (that I remember, anyway), but there ya go. I guess I figured it would be stuffy and boring since it's old scifi. Turns out that I read the entire Foundation series in a week or so and loved it, and I'm now working my way through the Robots. And still loving it. Colour me pleasantly surprised. :)

Sass, you theoretically ought to be able to order Hal Spacejock from Amazon and other online outlets. If that doesn't work, contact Simon Haynes directly and whine at him. Or sign up for his monthly contests and win free books - that's how we got addicted. :D Simon's a very very nice guy. :)

Love Hitchhiker's Guide! :)

I want to read Hal Spacejock as well, but haven't been able to find it in the bookstore. Curse the limited shelf space!

When it comes to science fiction, I like Isaac Asimov and Jules Verne. They used humor in good way in their works.

SciFi's not my genre but when I pair it with humor, my internal computer spits out the late Kurt Vonnegut. He was my favorite writer back in high school. I have a fondness for cynics. Also, I've never read another author who told you how the story ends at the beginning!
