Getting to know all about you…
Stolen from Auria Cortes.
More cheap meme cruft:
Welcome to the new 2008 edition of getting to know your family and friends. Here is what you are supposed to do, and try not to be lame and spoil the fun. Change all the answers so that they apply to you. Then [send this to a bunch of people you know, INCLUDING the person who sent it to you] post it. Some of you may get this several times; that means you have lots of friends. Have fun and be truthful!
- What is your occupation right now? Self-employed writer/editor.
- What colour are your socks right now? I’m barefoot. And I’m not entirely sure I even own any socks. Somehow, I don’t think I do – I haven’t worn any in, oh, five years. Except for last year in Singapore, but that was only a couple or three days and that hardly counts, and besides, I borrowed Fahim’s socks for that…
- What are you listening to right now? The birds and squirrels outside. And the wind rustling through the trees. And Fahim nagging me to get back to editing.
- What was the last thing that you ate? Bran cereal. Yeah, I’m getting old.
- Can you drive a stick shift? As in do I know how? Yes. My first car was a stick. And boy howdy was Vlady, as in Vladimir Cliff, fun to drive! As in can I physically drive a stick shift without dislocating various body parts and cause screaming muscle spasms? Yeah, that’s a little more doubtful.
- Last person you spoke to on the phone? Esther! Wait, no…
- Do you like the person who sent this to you? Yes.
- How old are you today? What, seriously? The white hair isn’t enough of an indication?
- What is your favourite sport to watch on TV? Uh, I think I’d rather gouge my eyes out.
- What is your favourite drink? Papaya juice. Or mango juice. Or watermelon or lime juice. Or orange juice…
- Have you ever dyed your hair? Are you kidding me? Started when I was fifteen, had a brief break of about two years in my mid-twenties, then started up again when I found a patch of white. Haven’t stopped. Although I no longer do the box dyes, which can be so very harmful and smell so very bad. I now henna.
Much healthier. Much.
- Favourite food? Mexican. Italian. Thai. Pizza. Garlic. Indian. Sri Lankan. Singaporean Chilli Crab (which I’m now allergic to, but boy oh boy was it good!). Um… I think I’m a bit indecisive… I like a variety of things and really don’t like the same thing day after day, so it’s really more of a craving issue…
- What is the last movie you watched? Hitch. Yesterday, actually.
- Favourite day of the year? I don’t have one.
- How do you vent anger? I cry.
- What was your favourite toy as a child? I can’t remember. Or maybe I just didn’t have one.
- What is your favourite season? Anything colder than here.
- Cherries or Blueberries? Both or either, but also papaya, mango, pineapple, finger bananas, and a bunch of others.
- Do you want your friends to e-mail(blog) you back? Yes!
- Who is the most likely to respond? I’m not sure who I’ll send this to.
- Who is least likely to respond? See above.
- Living arrangements? Living with the husband in his parent’s house.
- When was the last time you cried? I don’t remember.
- What is on the floor of your closet? What closet? Houses here don’t have closets. Now, if you’d asked me what was on the floor of my wardrobe, that’d be a whole other issue…
- Who is the friend you have had the longest {that you are sending to}? Not sure who I’m sending this to.
- What did you do last night? Read.
- What are you most afraid of? Dying alone.
- Plain, cheese, or spicy hamburgers? Spicy! Suicidally hot, preferably! Very very spicy! With cheese!
- Favourite dog breed? Cat.
- Favourite day of the week? Uh…
- What is your favourite number? 13 and 7.
- Diamonds or pearls? Sapphires, rubies, garnets, emeralds… Shiny shiny. But not gold.
- What is your favourite flower? Ones that smell pretty.

You have an eclectic taste in juices.
Dying alone doesn’t bother me. Chances are I will die alone (I’m single and don’t plan to married. However, I’m afraid of being sick and depending on a home nurse to tend to me.
Houses where you live don’t have closets?
I live in a tropical country. These are available as a matter of routine here.
Heck, I make lime juice (key limes) most days, and yesterday, I made papaya juice.
Houses here are a door, windows (most of the time), floors (concrete or tile), walls, and ceiling. That’s it. Wardrobes are purchased separately. Heck, when you rent, most houses don’t come with a fridge, stove, or even cupboards for the kitchen.
That was a great (if long) meme. I’m with you on the hamburgers and on the juice. You know, that is so very cool that you don’t remember the last time you cried.
Yeah, I agree with you on the long part. I was tempted to cut bits of it out, and maybe I should have.
About the crying thing – it probably has more to do with my lousy memory than anything else. And I just remembered when the last time I cried was – it was three weeks ago when my cat, Oberon, died. Yeah, I block things out…
Awww favourite dog breed is cat, I find that cute!
Hey, I taught both my cats to play fetch with me. Long before anyone ever told any of us that cats didn’t play fetch.
