Commenting Problems

This blog is currently having commenting problems. The error message that shows up is this:

Comment Submission Error

Your comment submission failed for the following reasons:

Too many comments have been submitted from you in a short period of time. Please try again in a short while.

Except that there weren’t too many comments. It doesn’t appear to be IP-based, and we’re looking into resolving this as quickly as we can. We know that other people using MovableType have experienced this problem, but it doesn’t look like any of them ever figured out why.

I’ll update in here as soon as this is resolved. Thank you for your patience.

ETA: It’s fixed and comments are working again.

It appears that the problem was CC Code, a plug-in that’s supposed to prevent spam. Well, sure, it prevents spam alright… A little too enthusiastically. ;)

Interestingly enough, Fahim has CC Code on his MovableType installation, and it works just fine without preventing comments entirely. So, theoretically, it somehow either became corrupted or the code was altered in my template.

To resolve this, Fahim removed all CC Code from my template, and then, magically (because I’m in fantasy mode) it all works again. Yahoo.
