I don't write novels, but a good quick in the butt to attempt a decent word count sounds a good plan.

How many people actually achieve the 50K??? and have a life, hmmmm

I actually took a shot at it last year. It at least got me in gear to produce something tangible. Can't say I hit 50K, but didn't do too bad.

It may be quid that you can use the chance with NaNoWriMo to free write and develop some new ideas. They don't about the content, you'll have all winter to figure out what wrote on all those sleepless nights!

Man, I've signed up for nanowrimo every year, and I just don't have the discipline for it.

Good luck to you though, and I look forward to reading about your progress!

asorum, do it! You know you wanna!

My problem tends to be too many ideas to know what to do with. *sigh*

Casey, c'mon, join in the fun. You can do it!

Talia, you can find the statistics for past years and even more information here:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/modules/xoopsfaq/index.php?cat_id=1#17

2005: 59,000 participants and 9,769 winners, which works out to about 16.5%. But no, you just had to ask about how many of them have a life... :D

I did it a few years back, and I managed to pull it off, but I wasn't all that impressed with my results. I'm kind of a slow writer, and I think I like it that way.

Why I can't:
6 year old
2 year old
PTA President

Plus I'm in the middle of a novel that it up to 10500 words right now and I'd like to continue the flow on that one. I am hoping to write 20k a month for the rest of the year.

I did Nanowrimo for two years running and managed to finish. I just become a lunatic on weekends though when it is difficult to get in my word count. I love the community though!
