The iframe code I’d originally set up and used for FFF1 and FFF2 doesn’t work the way I thought it would, so I’ve switched to a script instead. Here’s the general idea…
I wanted a code that would link all the participants blogs together to give each of us increased search engine ranking and Technorati ranking.
iframes don’t do that. I didn’t know that at first. In fact, I didn’t figure it out until yesterday when I checked my Technorati rank and discovered it hadn’t changed when it should have. So I investigated further and figured out that iframes don’t work because the .html code is on my website, so when search engines see it, the code isn’t on your site but mine, so you’re not referring back to me or to each other – I’m doing all the referring to everyone a hundred billion times. See the problem?
So I asked Fahim for help with this after searching, at his suggestion, for a .php script that would do what I want. I waded through a whole bunch of stuff that wouldn’t do what I wanted, or at least wouldn’t do it easily or wouldn’t do it without me wanting to sacrifice a geek. Fahim, after I screamed a few times, offered to write me a .php script that could do the job. That was last night as we lay in the dark, him trying to fall asleep. But then, I have a nasty habit of talking to him when I have his undivided attention… Which is usually only when he’s trying to fall asleep. :p
This morning he wrote me the code. There were a couple of minor problems with it, but it’s working at full speed now.
This code will do exactly what I want it to do. When the code is embedded in your blog entry, it’ll link to all the other entries that are listed, and we really will get – this time – the increased search engine and Technorati ranking as well as increased traffic that I/we are looking for.
So, now that the code is done and works, I’ve gone back and created the code for FFF1 and FFF2, as well as creating it for FFF3.
My request to you is that, if you’ve got the old iframes code on your blog, please replace it with this script. You’ll be happier, I’ll be happier, and we’ll all benefit from increased traffic and that other good stuff.
I’m sorry for the confusion this may be causing you. Unfortunately, bugs don’t always get worked out before I’d like.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or need help.
Here’s the code to insert for FFF1 (remember to insert it in html view) .
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.lmashton.com/fff/fff1.php"></script>
Here’s the code to insert for FFF2 (remember to insert it in html view) .
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.lmashton.com/fff/fff2.php"></script>
Here’s the code to insert for FFF3 (remember to insert it in html view) .
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.lmashton.com/fff/fff3.php"></script>
And here’s what it looks like (the example being for FFF1):
Edited to add:
Option One: You could install the script into your sidebar. I’ll see if I can get a scrolling version for that so it doesn’t take up so much room.
Option Two: Highlight the results of the script as I have them displayed in this blog (everything inside the blockquote), view source, then copy that source code intact into an entry in your blog.
That would give you html code that looks like this:

Hi, this won’t work for Livejournal users because LJ strips out all kinds of script from the HTML to try and stop cross-site scripting attacks from happening. Not a show-stopper of a problem, but annoying nonetheless.
