Flash Fiction Friday 2

Flash Fiction Friday. The badder, more insane version of telling yourself a bad joke. Where cliches and sentence fragments collide head on.

Join the inanity, er, insanity. Write your very own personalized piece of fluff fiction and wait for the bucks to roll in. And your meds to kick in.

So whaddya have to do to get involved? Why, you have to write flash fiction, and no, flash fiction does not mean a flasher has to appear in the story, nor do we want pictures of any flashers.

First, write your flash fiction, no more than 1000 words, and post it to your blog or website.

Second, add the Flash Fiction Friday weekly html code to that blog post or website page. Alternately, you may make it an entry before or after your flash fiction. Hint: It’s html code, so you’ll have to do it in html view. Most blogging platforms should support this, if not all. This week’s code is:

<IFRAME SRC="http://www.lmashton.com/fff/fff2.html" TITLE="Friday Flash Fiction #2" width="500px" height="300px">

</IFRAME>

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.lmashton.com/fff/fff2.php"></script>

Third, either leave a comment to this post or email me at lm (at) lmashton (dot) com to let me know you’re participating. Deadline: next Thursday (as long as it’s Thursday somewhere in the world, it’ll be accepted.) If you’re emailing, please use FFF#2 in the subject line. Either way, please provide me with:

  • The permalink to your blog entry. It will be in a form such as http://www.janedoe.blogspot.com/2006/08/see-spot-run.html
  • Your name as you’d like it to appear, real or pseudorific and/or the name of your blog
  • The title to your flash fiction piece.
  • If your piece has profanity or adult themes, please provide a warning.

Fourth, check out the other entries for the week and comment.

Fifth, and most importantly, have fun! :D

Please note, if the html code is not easily visible on that entry or page, I will remove your entry from the list. Also, if you remove the html code, you will be removed from the list.

If at any time you woud like to be deleted, please let me know. :)

That’s it! Welcome to Flash Fiction Friday! Let the insanity begin!

Here’s what the code will look like on your page:

Wondering about the purpose behind the code? It puts your link up on the sites of other participants, and theirs on yours, so your page rank improves along with everyone else’s. Everyone wins. :)

Edited to add: The iframe code did not work the way I thought it would, so have instead replaced it with a script that will do what I think it should. :) Please replace the iframe code in your blog with the script code.

Please read the entries titled Flash Fiction Friday iframes code and the new flash fiction friday script code for more information.

That iframes code either doesn’t play well with Blogger, or with IE. *shrugs* Anyway, here’s my first attempt.

OK, so I created a blog just for this and have NO idea what I’m doing. I obviously messed up the code, but it is on there! Let me know if I should/shouldn’t do something different.

UPROOTED, also can’t leave a comment on your blog.

Your story left me with tingles and a huge smile. :) I loved it! Great job. :)

This is a comment for KARA at BRIEF FORAYS INTO WRITING because I can’t leave a comment on your blog:

I enjoyed reading it. You’ve given them personality and imbued them with an history history that you’ve hinted at. It was a fun read – thanks for sharing! :)

For INFINITY RANCH – I also couldn’t leave a comment on your blog either.

Sid & Maury is funny. You’ve given them great personalities and I can see them fighting with each other. Your ending line is perfect!

Thanks for sharing! :)

BLACKBLADE – couldn’t leave a comment on your post either.

I like this! Granted, because of the totem, I knew what it was going to be, but still, you led up to it very nicely and with an interesting concept. You’ve piqued my curiousity… :)

LARISSE, I couldn’t leave a comment on your post either – your blog wouldn’t load the comments, and it may have something to do with an error in the script that I can see on your page.

I liked your story. It had a very North American native feel to it, very authentic. Nice ending as well. :)

Thanks for playing. :)
