Really really cheap domain hosting?

I recently came across a domain hosting site (a link on another blog perhaps?) that looks interesting. Nope, not affiliated with them, get no kickbacks, don’t know anyone who works for them. I mention them because they have an interesting premise that could save a lot of people money on their web hosting bills. :)

For as little as $0.25, you can move your websites to NearlyFreeSpeech.NET, the original home of only pay for what you use hosting. See the proof for yourself.

Like I said, interesting premise.

Data Transfers (Bandwidth): $1.00 per gigabyte

Disk Space (Storage): $0.01 per megabyte-month

It won’t work for me, and it won’t work for everyone – there are a lot of features I’m used to having – and need – for me to consider switching.

Like email servers, for example. In my opinion, if you’re going to use your website for business purposes – and this includes promoting whatever you write – you ought to have an email address at your own domain. Well, truthfully, with them, you can have email forwarding, so receiving email at your domain isn’t a problem – but it’s just a forwarding service, so no replying from that same email addy.

That, to me, isn’t as professional.

But, depending on where you are in the life cycle of a writer, this might end up being the perfect – and far cheaper – solution for you.

If any of you use them, would you please tell us about your experiences?
