JC Hosting folding?

JCHosting, the former domain host for AbsoluteWrite, who shut them down on an hour’s notice over a complaint by Barbara Bauer, appears to be going out of business. Or so they claim in their personal blogs. On the hosting site, it appears to be business as usual.

JamesC’s blog first.

I never been much for owning a gun but with the recent problems that have came about these last few weeks I feel that maybe I should rethink my thoughts about owning one.

With all the hate emails still coming through and the recent ones stating the fact that some people know where we live, it might be time to be prepared to defend my home and family.

I dunno if it’s just me, but it seems a bit melodramatic. I hope no one has actually threatened their life over this – that would be way, way, way over the top. Threatening harm to anyone is excessive and unnecessary, and it does no one any good any time.

Did this really happen? I don’t know JamesC other than from him and his wife shutting down AbsoluteWrite and behaving in a way that I consider unprofessional, but is what he saying truth or exaggerated? No idea.

If it is, I would say this to those who are threatening harm: Stop it now and apologize.

Then there’s Stephanie’s blog post.

You win.

We are closing our business of 5 years. Tomorrow, I ll transfer the writing wise domain to the person who wanted me to open it up to see what could be done with it. You can be very proud of youselves and what you ve accomplished. Pat yourselves on the back for me, won t you?

Considering statements made by her and her husband about the many many customers who support them blah blah blah, I have to say I’m surprised. If they had that many customers stand behind them, this wouldn’t happen.

I have a horror story to tell. I d tell it myself but it s of a kind that requires an objective voice and mine would be anything but. I don t have $100,000 or more to spend in court to prove what I already know to be true

This is something that Stephanie seems to be good at – dangling carrots. She promises to tell her side of the story, then retracts it. She hints at murky conspiracies and how wronged she and James were, but offers no actual commentary or proof – just the murky hints.

Stephanie and James, from where I’m standing, near as I can tell, you two made some really bad business decisions. That sucks. But still, I wish you no ill. I do hope you can move on and get past this.

Check out Stephanie’s most recent posts… quote from post dated today… “I work from home running an internet web services business. Sometimes I, or my partner, have to make decisions to protect our business interests…”

Somehow, that doesn’t sound to me like someone going out of business.

Thanks, Rachel. I hadn’t seen the most recent posts of hers. :)

It’s entirely possible that they could close JC Hosting and open up a separate company to start business fresh. Who knows?
