It’s a meme started by Kelly where she talks about Absolute Write going down.
Before the site disappeared, bloggers on the forum were talking about a way to initiate a blogging effort that would connect people across the globe. Well, that has definitely happened in the form of this really nasty situation, but we had some very inspirational efforts suggested as well. The suggestion I made was for everyone to do some random act of kindness, write about it on their blog and then tag someone else. I got the idea from Jenna’s blog entry from a couple weeks ago. I know that Jenna liked this idea. What if we tried to corral all our energy and direct it in a positive way?
I offered my own suggestion in that thread – what it was, I no longer remember
, but that’s typical for my goldfish brain – and I think this is a great idea. So, I’m taking off with this idea and when I’m done, I’ll be tagging some poor hapless souls.
My random act of kindness was doing some sewing for my mother in law. She’d asked me to sew her a couple of dresses and a headcovering for prayer – for Umrah, which is a pilgrimage to Mecca – because they had specific requirements. White and plain for starters. I got them sewn and mil was happy with the job I did.
I then started in on the optional bit – a handbag from the leftover bits of fabric.
Mil wanted something big enough to be useful to carry all sorts of stuff on their pilgrimage, so it ended up being about 10" tall by 12" wide by 2" thick – plenty big.
When I presented it to her, she was thrilled. She gave me a huge hug.
I didn’t mind doing it at all – I enjoy sewing and get a kick out of trying new things, like making a handbag with no pattern except the one in my head. For me, it was fun.
And that’s my random act of kindness. Hmm, maybe not so random after all? I dunno.
Anyway, now it’s your turn. What are you going to do?
Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to:
Do do a random act of kindness
Blog about it
Report back to me and Kelly
Tag someone else.
This message will self-destruct in ten seconds.

What a great idea!!! Thank you for playing our Random Acts of Kindness Tag. Keep it going!
Yeah, Fahim tells me it’s not valid, so I’ll have to do something else. I’ll figure out something tomorrow, do it, and report back. Again.
I’d love to hear about your next RAOK as well – I think they’re all valid;)
