Dvorak progress

19 October 2005

I’ve learned 90% of the keyboard and my WPM is 20 with 6% errors.
My progress has slowed. Greater frustration caused by sleep deprivation – you can read about it in my other blog, but the basic idea is that my CPAP machine died and I haven’t really slept well in a month.
Yay.

Earthlink is dummber than a bag of hammers

13 October 2005

I’m posting this here for those who can’t access NaNoWriMo but want to – spread the joy, spread the joy!
And why am I calling Earthlink dummber than a bag of hammers? (And yes, the misspelling is deliberate!) Because there will be something like 80,000 people signing up for NaNoWriMo, maybe more, and that’s how many [...]

Earthlink vs. NaNoWriMo

12 October 2005

Earthlink subscribers are apparently STILL having problems accessing NaNoWriMo. In an effort to spread a possible solution for Earthlink subscribers, I’ve taken this solution from the NaNoWriMo site (which Earthlink subscribers can’t access, of course) and pasted it here.
Pretty much anyone who uses Earthlink can’t access NaNoWriMo.
This is because Earthlink’s DNS servers are not giving [...]

Dvorak the keyboard, not the musician

12 October 2005

So*, I’ve been thinking of making the switch for a while, Fahim and I sorta started last year but quickly got sidetracked, and I’m going for it after all.
I downloaded the Ten Thumbs Typing Tutorial, installed it, and started using it. I spent about half an hour, perhaps 45 minutes, going through tutorials.
I’ve now gone [...]

Dvorak vs. Qwerty

11 October 2005

I’ve been toying for quite a while about switching to the Dvorak keyboard. It’s supposed to result in faster typing speeds and less stress on the joints and various appendages.
Less pain and stress sounds good to me. The other part doesn’t really affect me so much. I think. I may change my mind later. But [...]
