One writing site I frequent, WVU, has a writing course – F150, Design Your Own Novel Program, suggests the following for a set-yer-own-schedule writing plan.
Marathon Novel Writing Program – 30 days or less:
- 30 days of writing
Fast Track Program:
- 1 week planning
- 1 week research
- 6 weeks writing
Standard Program:
- 1 week research
- 2 weeks character development
- 2 weeks structure planning
- 1 week research
- 5 weeks writing
- 1 week adjustment planning
- 4 weeks writing
26 week novel writing program:
- 1 week research
- 2 weeks character development
- 2 weeks structure planning
- 1 week research
- 10 weeks writing
- 2 weeks adjustment planning
- 8 weeks writing
As I contemplate the next novel I’d like to write, I wonder which is the most reasonable plan for me to follow.
I would like this novel to be different. I would like to plan it much better. Maximize success.
